Culture in Santiago

Santiago has grown to be enough of a market for high-end cultural events including opera, symphony, ballet, modern dance etc, that some very important and accoladed shows come through the city, often showing at the gorgeous Teatro Municipal, but also occasionally in public spaces or in other theaters throughout the city. In recent years, the opening of new museums has rounded out the cultural offerings, and the summer events related to "Santiago a Mil" as well as free concerts througout the city (watch the blog for details!) mean there's never a reason to sit and stare at the four walls of your (well-chosen) hotel.
