Attractions in Seattle

Most cities have a few world-renowned attractions, and Seattle is no exception - not many cities have a giant needle as part of their skyline! From the largest farmer's market in America to a tour into a preserved, century-old city, Seattle has plenty of attractions to add to your to-do list.

The Space Needle tops our list because, well, it tops pretty much every tourist's list! This 605 foot tower was built for the 1964 World's Fair, but from all the high-tech visual aides in the observation area, you'd never know it. Tickets can be pricey and lines can be long - might as well splurge and eat at the SkyCity restaurant while you're there, that way the observation privileges are free.

Seattle Center has plenty of attractions aside from the Space Needle. Check out the Pacific Science Center, the IMAX theatre, the Children's Museum, and the incredible double-deal - the Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum. And when you're ready to head downtown for some shopping, just hop on the Seattle Monorail - the country's first monorail and other popular attraction itself.

If you're looking for a souvenir, a sip of coffee from the original Starbucks or the freshest seafood and produce around, head to Pike Place Market. From the flying fish to a heaven-scented spice shop, the market is a total treat for the eyes, nose and mouth.

Our top recommendation for history nerds is the Underground Tour, where funny, knowledgeable tour guides take you beneath the city into the remains of the Seattle that burned to the ground in 1889. Afterward, get a little fresh air with a stroll down the city's Waterfront, where you can catch a ferry, grab some fish n chips or check out the famed Seattle Aquarium.
