Chef Antonio Conejero sure has worked his way up in the ranks from competing with grandma in the kitchen as a child. He now calls the shots at his own restaurant, AZ-Zait, which has rightfully earned recognition by the prestigious Michelin Guide. Conejero creatively uses the fundamentals of Andalucían cuisine, and this makes his a refreshing addition to the abundance of strictly traditional restaurants. For a fruity variation of a normally savory dish, try the
solomillo ibérico con manzanas asadas y salsa de grosellas (pork tenderloin with roasted apples and redcurrant sauce). To fully experience AZ-Zait, order the tasting menu. English-speaking waitstaff are generously informative about all eight courses, which are prepared for each guest according to allergy restrictions and personal preferences. This is the best deal in the house, as gastronomic quality soars above and beyond the relatively modest price of 50€.
