Description:

The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, also known as the National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall, showcases a huge bronze statue of Chiang Kai-shek, former president of Taiwan. The steps of the memorial look out over a gigantic Tiananmen Square-like plaza with a total of 62 acres of landscaped gardens surrounding the building. Both the National Opera House and the National Concert Hall flank the plaza on either side.

Beneath the statue on the first floor of the monument building is a museum containing artifacts from the presidents life, including his three cars.

Children will enjoy the turtles, bird and fish of the surrounding ponds, and birdwatching enthusiasts will find a list of species as well as where you might spot them on the memorial's official website.

Entrance is free, and the park is open daily from 9:00am to 6:00pm.
