The Museo Regional de la Ceramica de Tlaquepaque is housed in a mansion that was once the mansion of Jose Francisco Velarde de la Mora, a famous general who served under Santa Anna and eventually lost his life because of it. The home is a magnificent representation of 19th century architecture. It is on the main shopping street (Independencia). The museum is dedicated to the work of local artisans. Here you will find clay figures, masks, pottery and other art works from regional towns including Tonala, Santa Cruz, El Rosario, Tlaquepaque, Zalatitan and Tateposco. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm, and on Sundays from 9 am to 4 pm.
