The Smithsonian American Art Museum (formerly known as the National Museum of American Art) captures three centuries of American expression. Housed within its walls are an eclectic collection of works from over 7,000 artists, including Georgia O'Keeffe, Mary Cassat, John Singer Sargent and Jenny Holzer. From American Impressionism, to folk art, to New Deal works to images of Western expansion, this museum highlights the cultural diversity and rich experiences of generations of Americans.
