Located in the Maine beaches region just 30 minutes south of Portland, the Wells Auto Museum is a car lover's paradise. This attraction features 80 vintage automobiles ranging from the earliest "horseless carriages" to a rare DeLorean (the "time machine" classic featured in the "Back to the Future" movie franchise). Many rare roadsters are featured including limited editions of Cadillacs from the 1930s, plus Hudsons and Studebakers.

Of special note is a collection of Stanley Steamer cars. Manufactured in Maine's Skowhegan region, these vehicles utilized steam power to break numerous land speed records in the early decades of the twentieth century. Unfortunately, the growing popularity and convenience of gas powered automobiles eventually forced the Stanley Motor Company into bankruptcy. The museum is open seasonally on a regular basis, from June to October, and also open throughout Memorial Day Weekend.
