Located close to the ferry to Gulangyu Island, Zhongshan Lu is the city's main street. The street is closed off to allow tourists and natives alike to amble the main throroughfair, stopping at the many street food stands and shops along the way. The main road has hawkers selling everything from small curios to toys, while the stores range from tiny local sellers to large brand name stores, selling Xiamen specialties, clothing, books, and food.The street has many offshoots and days can be spent exploring the various side streets. There visitors can find small coffee shops, large groupings of street food vendors, eclectic shops, and tea and coffee shops.
