NileGuide Expert tip:
There is also a men-only swimming area in the Schanzengraben near Bahnhof Selnau. For more information, visit http://www.badi-info.ch/zh/schanzengraben.html.
Right in the heart of central Zurich, Frauenbad sits in the Limmat River between the Quaibrücke and the Münsterbrücke bridges. This women-only swimming area has been in existence for over a century, and its floating structure looks just as sleek and well-maintained in the winter months as it does when it is officially open for business from mid-May to mid-September. The clean Limmat River flows through two "pools", one with a metal bottom and one without a floor for stronger swimmers. Lifeguards are on duty, and the occasional duck also makes an appearance. Light food and refreshments are served inside. Massages are also available. Despite being in the midst of everything, Frauenbad has a peaceful ambiance, ideal for whiling away a hot summer afternoon.
