Salt & Pepper

Description:

  • This fresh, appealing spot serves light meals such as salads (don't pass on the salt and pepper salad with salty bacon and peppery shrimp), burgers, and sandwiches, but tapas are its specialty. Most of the 30 appetizer-size dishes have a Spanish accent, but others speak Cantonese, Italian, French, or Dutch. What sounds good to you? Pan-fried shrimp in mango sauce? Sautéed mushrooms with Parmesan cheese? Garlic escargots? Beef spiced up for the islands? Fried brie? Black-olive spread? Spinach dip? Nothing's too fancy or complicated, but better snacks are hard to find. With prices ranging from $2.50 to $6 per item, you can have a feast for less than the price of a simple entree at most restaurants in the neighborhood. Live entertainment in the outdoor courtyard begins at 8pm. Show up with salt and pepper shakers to add to their collection, and get a free drink on the house.
