Hip hotels have something unique about them. They have their own personality. They are charming. They stand out from the crowd. While many of the hotels in Banff are pretty much standard fare, Banff National Park has a number of hip, unique hotels. Some are famous, others have never been heard of. But, each other them offers something that others can't.
Moraine Lake Lodge is one of Banff's best places to stay because of its location, its ethic, and it's limited crowds. Being an almost self-sufficient lodge in the Rockies makes it one of the most earth-friendly properties in the province of Alberta. But, living in a setting like Moraine Lake with the Valley of Ten Peaks will inspire a new level of respect for the earth. Simpson's Num-Ti-Jah Lodge on Bow Lake will have a similar impact.
SameSun Backpacker Lodge is a Canadian-brand of hostel. It has locations in Whistler and Banff. The reputation is one of low-cost quality and fun. In Banff, the SameSun is a restored and redecorated 4-star hotel in downtown. It is the premiere hostel in Banff.
Sunshine Mountain Lodge is Banff National Park's only ski-in, ski-out property. It is located in Sunshine Village, which is the base for the ski hill. Guests take a 20 minute gondola up to the Village. The Standish, Strawberry, Angel, and Wawa lifts are right outside the door. It's the best way to experience skiing. No need to wake up early, no rush to quit. The ski season runs from November to May.
