  • When the sun comes out (which is quite often) and the weather heats up, Barcelona is one of the best places for picnics. Between the mountains, the beach and its beautiful gardens which are quite abundant in the city, it's an excellent way to spend a weekend afternoon with a few friends and a few bottles of wine.

Our number two pick is the Jardi Botanical Garden. Known for its cutting edge landscaping these gardens were opened in 1999 and are fast gaining international recognition. Located atop Montjuic, it's a wonderful place for a picnic or to come and read a book.

If you feel like getting some exercise and playing in one of Barcelona's most well known and exciting gardens, then check out our number five pick. Parc Del Laberint d'Horta (Labyrinth Park) is a maze of trees, grass and plants. It's a unique way to spend an afternoon and can even last all day, depending on how long it takes you to find your way out.

Our number seven pick combines both art and relaxation. Check out Joan Miro's fantastic art museum and then continue onwards to the park where you can read a book, have a picnic or just take in the sun.
