Port Vell Attractions in Barcelona

Barcelona's most popular port, Port Vell, is an excellent place to spend an afternoon, especially if you have children. Full of exciting things to keep occupied, including the aquarium, imax theatre and a huge shopping complex, Port Vell is by the water and ideal for having picnics of sunny days or doing some indoor activities when the weather's not cooperating.

Our number one pick is a fun, 3D way to spend a few hours. Barcelona's Imax theater in Port Vell, offers a wide variety of exciting 3D movies covering a range of subjects. From skiing to mountain climbing and exploring nature in different parts of the world, their movies are diverse and entertaining.

If you're in the mood to shop our number five pick is an excellent choice. Maremagnum shopping center is one of the few Barcelona malls open almost all year round. They're even open most Sundays, which is rare in the city. Featuring a large selection of brand name stores with restaurants, cafes and plenty of sweet shops, Maremagnum is a wonderful place to shop before continuing on towards the beach.

Since you're by the port, if you're into boats and in particular sailing, our number eight pick is a superb option. Barcelona's sailing cruises are an excellent way to get out on the water, watch the sunset and enjoy the Mediterranean. Cruises are easy to arrange if you head to Port Vell you can speak with the tourist information center there and they can set you up.
