- The United Barbados Derby is a highlight of horse racing's second season that runs from June to August each year. This event, which started in 1940, is for top-class horses and is run over nine furlongs. It is sure to be a fun time at Garrison Savannah, home of horse racing in Barbados, with plenty of amusements for children and betting for the older folks. The Savannah also hosts the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup in March.
