  • Some of the best things for kids to do in Bryce Canyon are just as much fun for the adults in the family. Bryce Canyon also offers many great ranger-led activities, all of which are great family-friendly picks of things to do.

Bryce Canyon is well-known for its night skies, which are considered some of the darkest (meaning, least light-polluted) in the lower 46 states. The Astronomy program is applauded within the National Park system for good reason. Bryce Canyon has specially-trained "Dark Rangers" who are astronomy experts. They lead nightly star-viewing programs and monthly Full Moon Hikes, all of which are pretty darn cool. Also check out the annual Astronomy Festival, which happens every July, for even more kid-friendly fun that sneaks in a lot of learning as well.

You can also look right at the sun in their Solar-Viewing Program! They have it set up a special way so you don't hurt your eyes. Now, that's a heck of a great activity to check out. There's also a ranger-led Rim Walk, which at a mere mile should be do-able by even the youngest kiddos.

For younger or less adventurous children, the Junior Ranger program is a genuinely interesting, hands-on activity choice. English not their first language? Bryce Canyon offers Junior Ranger Badges for French and German visitors too!

And, of course, there are some great hikes for families to take. Navajo Loop is practically a requirement of any visitor, and the Queen's Garden always entices with its funky hoodoos.
