West End
Glasgow's West End is home to a large collection of offbeat cafés, bars, plush hotels, nightclubs and restaurants which easily compete with (and are preferred by many) over the city centre. The west end is home to the expansive Kelvingrove Park and Glasgow Botanic Gardens. The famous Byres road and the many lanes that branch from it, are popular with tourists and locals alike for the eateries and shopping. Glasgow University (fourth oldest Uni in the UK) dominates the West End and lies just off Byres Road. The architecture and atmosphere of the university and surrounding buildings are simply stunning and seem a thousand miles away and not a mere stones throw from the hustle and bustle of Byres Road. The Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery lies within the university and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the Kelvin Hall International Sports Hall lie adjacent to the university. This area also boasts it's own annual festival which draws thousands of visitors to the area every year!Nightlife
