NileGuide Expert tip:
Don't be put off by the fact that Long Phi serves food all night. It is really very decent fare.
Late night hangouts in Saigon usually follow one of two creeds. There are the hostess bars where enjoyment of a good honest drink depends on your tolerance level for crappy house music and the company of 'friendly' females. And there's the backpacker joints where your enjoyment of a good honest drink depends on your tolerance for crappy house music, the company of 'friendly' females and, as a final coup de grace, rowdy singlet-wearing gappers, Thankfully, occasional islands of levity remain and this bar is one of them. Run by a French-Vietnamese the small space is bedecked with vintage Gallic artwork while food – available well into the wee small hours – runs the gamut from crepes to croque monsieur. The drinks list possesses a certain je ne sais quois too with favourites such as pastis and crème de cassis available. It's all tres convivial and the eclectic playlist is by far the coolest you'll hear in public at the post-business end of the night.
