Cheap Lake Tahoe Hotels

  • You don't have to go broke staying up at the lake. It's true, that this can be an expensive area in the popular summer months and during the ski season, but here are a few hotels and motels that offer pleasant accommodations that won't break your budget.

    If you want to stay on the North Shore around Incline Village, try the cute Rustic Cottages right across from the beach in Tahoe Vista. They are good for families. If you prefer the West Shore, try the Mother Nature's Inn near Tahoe City and Commons Beach or the Knotty Pine Bed and Breakfast where they offer a full breakfast and accommodations in a house from the 1930's. In the popular South Shore you can stay at the condos of the Tahoe Seasons Resort, or the Avalon Lodge which is near Heavenly. The Cedar Lodge is basic and has an outdoor pool. For something unique and romantic, try The Castle where Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. stayed.

    If you don't mind being a little out of the main Tahoe area, stay at the Donner Lake Village Resort. They are right on Donner Lake and offer kitchens, a fireplace lounge and a private marina. If you want a little history, stay at the River Street Inn in Truckee and enjoy the outdoors around this hotel from 1885.
