Blue Diamond/Silverado Ranch
The Las Vegas neighborhoods of Blue Diamond and Silverado Ranch are located along the southern portion of the Las Vegas Valley. Blue Diamond is a small community in the southwestern portion of the valley, sitting right outside Red Rock Canyon. Silverado Ranch is located in the southeastern area of Las Vegas, and borders the Henderson/Green Valley neighborhood. Unlike the glittery expanse of the Strip, both these communities are residential. Blue Diamond gives visitors a small-town experience next to the stunning scenery of Red Rock Canyon, and Silverado Ranch is a great place to stay just outside of the busy Strip.
With a population of less than 500, Blue Diamond is short on motels. Staying in the area will require getting a room at the Bonnie Springs Motel, just up the road on State Route 159 (also known as Blue Diamond Road). If you're interested in outdoor adventures, like the world-class rock climbing in Red Rock Canyon, a stay at the Bonnie Springs Motel (adjacent to Bonnie Springs Ranch) will put you minutes away from the cliffs and miles away from the Las Vegas Strip. You can also visit the Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, also just off Blue Diamond Road. The historic home on the property went through several notable owners, including Howard Hughes, before it was taken over by the State of Nevada. Unlike many Las Vegas destinations, the entire Blue Diamond area is family-friendly from the roaming burros to the Wild West shows at Bonnie Springs.
Silverado Ranch is one of Las Vegas' newer neighborhoods, and is a heavily residential area; potential home buyers will find plenty of offerings here. Hotels in the area include the Silverton, the South Point, and The M Resort. Each hotel offers several restaurants, entertainment, bars, and nightclubs. The rustic, country theme at the Silverton is perfect for the Bass Pro Shop, which is located onsite. The South Point is home to an equestrian arena and comes complete with bowling alleys and movie theaters. The M Resort is hipper and newer, and prides itself on its luxury accommodations. Wine lovers will enjoy the Hostile Grape, where 160 wines by the glass are available.
