The Best of NileGuide

Remember that Peru is located in the southern hemisphere, so you may want to come to Lima to run away from a cold winter in your home town: Spring here starts in September, but the best time to visit Lima beaches is plain summer, specially January and February. Yes, you may find them packed with locals, but well, getting to know the real Limenian life can be interesting too.
First of all, you need to take a look at the Lima Costa Verde beaches, also known as the "Circuito de Playas" (Beaches Circuit) due to fact that they all are neighboring and connected by a highway. If you are staying in Miraflores then you are already in a great location to start visiting these beaches; take a walk along any Miraflores marina, or simply go to Larcomar Shopping center. From there you will have a good view of the Miraflores section, and a glimpse of Chorrillos' section too. Some nice and easy-access beaches in Miraflores and Barranco are Makaha and Redondo, preferred by surfers, while the most popular in Chorrillos is Agua Dulce.
Many Limenians prefer to run away from the city and flee to the South Lima beaches; Punta Hermosa and San Bartolo are some of the preferred spots, both located by the Panamericana Sur road, near the km. 40.
A little farther, Cerro Azul is also a common summer destination that offers some more things than just a beach. Back in the city, Callao Port has its own beaches too, but the most appropriate for vacations time are undoubtedly La Punta and Cantolao, both of them with quiet, peaceful waters.
