Description:

  • Housed in a replica of the Nantucket Life-Saving Station (the original serves as the island's youth hostel), the museum, which has recently been renovated, has loads of interesting exhibits, including historic photos and newspaper clippings, as well as one of the last remaining Massachusetts Humane Society surf boats and its horse-drawn carriage. Two-hour children's programs (ages 6-10) are offered in the summer for $20, with one offering demonstrations of the breaches buoy lifesaving technique.
