  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Park City, though it does have 8,000+ residents is, is a town whose tourist population often outnumbers its residential population during its peak winter months -most particularly during the Sundance Film Festival, which dominates Park City every January.

As to be expected in a ritzy ski town, many of the accommodations in Park City are high-end and rather expensive even for their respective classes. Supply and demand! But fear not -with advanced booking, special ski (or other vacation) packages, clever thinking, and possibly even flexible driving distances, Park City can be a manageably affordable place to visit.

The most typical and obvious accommodations are indeed slope-side, large scale hotels at Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyons, and Deer Valley. And these are often the most pricey -but for that money, you'll often get the convenience of airport shuttles and ski-in, ski-out mountain access. However if you look beyond these large structures, you'll see smaller, local-style hotels and b & b's in downtown Park City. Farther north, in Kimball Junction, you'll recognize familiar national brand hotels -typically much less expensive than their downtown sisters (but still more expensive than their average franchise likenesses).

If you're feeling even more creative, consider heading outside of town and into one of the smaller neighboring villages. Found there are many resort- or ranch-type accommodations options designed to provide more of an experience than just a bedroom and clean towels.

Regardless of what you decide, be sure to book well in advance of the vacation. Otherwise you might end up paying through the nose -or being forced to stay in an undesirable situation.
