• This is one of the charming (there really is no other word for it), small, family-run bakeries that dot North Beach. Each has a delicious repertoire of specialties. Here it is 'Sacripantina', a cake filled with Zabaglione and soaked in Marsala wine. It is a luscious mix of sponge cake covered in perfectly made rich, sweet cream. You can buy this authentic Italian treat by the cup (it is too gooey to make a slice that holds its shape) or by the cake in several sizes. Prices vary, but the quality does not.
