  • The bold flavors of Indian food always creates a little getaway for your taste buds. Everything from a creamy korma, a healthful dahl, crispy pakoras and a spicy Vindaloo are deliciously satisfying and are a labor of love from the kitchen. Vancouver is fortunate enough to have some fabulous Indian restaurants to treat your senses to and an added bonus is that there are many vegetarian, if not vegan, options to enjoy.

Vikram Vij is a hero amongst foodies in Vancouver because he has created brand that Vancouverites know they can trust. With an all female staff in the kitchen, those ladies know how to make mouth-watering, delicious food and you can taste the care that's put into each dish. Vij's does not take reservations and the wait can often be lengthy, but like any hospitable host, they make sure you're looked after while you wait. If you're in a hurry, or are looking to stick to a budget (which Vij's can break), go to their sister restaurant, Vij's Rangoli right beside. There you can grab food from the freezer to take home and eat, or sit down to a hot meal. Rangoli is much more casual than Vij's.

Maurya Indian Cuisine is another favorite spot to go to when the craving strikes. The prices are reasonable, the decor is contemporary and the dishes are excellent! It's always nice to go with more than one person so that you can order a few dishes to taste test a nice variety.

Chutney Villa also serves fragrant curries that will leave you satisfyingly full. Try the Aachi Vadai while you're there. They're morsels of fried cauliflower that are served with a few chutneys and it's a great way to start off your meal.

Any of these restaurants are a great choice if you're looking for that Indian fix, but if you're looking for something truly memorable and a little bit special, Vij's is worth it.
