NileGuide Expert tip:

If it is available, try a glass of the Chemistry '09 out of Oregon. It is a pleasant mix of Pinot gris, Riesling, and Chardonnay. When the weather is warm be sure to get to V-No early if you want a seat. This small wine bar has limited seating indoors and out, and with prime location along the pier of Fells Point, this cute little wine bar fills up quickly. You may find yourself waiting in line just to order a glass.

Description:

V-No wine bar is in a class all by itself in Fells Point, the bar haven of Baltimore. Nestled on the quieter side of the old "Homicide: Life on the Streets" building, and overlooking the water, it defines its own atmosphere. Much like many of its wines, V-No is mature, refined, singular, and somewhat eclectic.

The wine bar, with its 4 bar stool tables and 2 sit-down tables, carries unique selections, which are separated along its walls in a nontraditional, however, thoughtful manner. Instead of searching for a selection by country or region, wine enthusiasts can choose a glass (or bottle) by style: Bubbly, Crisp, Lush, Rich, Juicy, Round or Big. Bottles along the main wall are less than $30 and those within the cellar start from $30 a bottle, ranging up to $149 a bottle. All bottles have a $7 corkage fee.

The wine menu changes weekly, listing about 20 different choices, including 3 feature wines and also 6 varieties of beer. Food is limited to small bites, which include: toasted nuts, pate and french bread, a cheese sampler and a few deserts. All in all, V-NO is a perfect end to a romantic date or a great start to a night out with some friends.
