History Attractions in Chicago

Chicago may be hip and with the times, but there is plenty of history to the "city that works." If you are a history buff and are curious to learn more, start at the Chicago Architecture Foundation, where you can tour Chicago's landmark buildings with an informative guide. One of the architects you are bound to discuss is Frank Lloyd Wright, so make a visit to his home and now museum, and be sure to stop by the Glessner House Museum, to marvel at Henry Hobson Richardson's 27-room home! Or you might enjoy the Clarke House Museum, in the Greek Revival style. Also, be sure to stop by Water Tower during your day of shopping the Mag Mile, to see the remains of the great Chicago Fire. Then, make your way to Navy Pier and ride in the Ferris wheel, modeled after the one from the 1893 World's Fair. Be sure not to miss historical photos and engravings at the Chicago River Museum as you stand under one of Chicago's movable bridges. Finally, wander through the beautiful Graceland Cemetery, and see what "notable" people you can find!
