Smaller, one-of-a-kind hotels are abundant n Geneva and most belong in the historical boutique category which adds to the Swiss experience of encountering days gone by and at the same time having personalized service from people who live here. There are also a large variety of star-ratings and room rates from which to select. I have provided some recommendations in most categories that are my favorite smaller hotels. For me the ultimate in boutiques is the sumptuous Sir Rocco Forte's Le Richemond with only 98 rooms and a member of the Leading Hotels of the world. Also in the prestigious category are the Parc des Eaux-Vives mansion near Parc La Grange and the shoreline, the Hôtel de la Paix and the Hôtel D'Angleterre both located on the Quai Mont Blanc.
A member of Design Hotels, La Réserve is just a bit out of the center for a wellness experience right on the lake with a view of the Alps.
There are several unique small boutiques in the center, one being the Hôtel Les Armures, a 17th century building located right in the Vielle Ville (Old Town). A little further towards the theatres is the Art Nouveau style Hotel Tiffany and west of the Vielle Ville is the Boutique Gallery Design Hotel La Cour des Augustins. In the lively Paquis district is the Kipling Hotel (as in Rudyard) and the Eastwest Hôtel, a friendly fusion of continents.
