Newer, flashier kids on the block may have usurped it as the most prestigious address in town, but this luxury stalwart remains a sterling option if you've got some cash to splash.Former US presidents George H Bush and his son 'Dubya' both stayed here, as did Bill Clinton, and the hotel is still a favorite of visiting luminaries. Despite its exalted reputation and its air of five-star finery, the hotel's main asset is its location. Situated a stone's throw from both Ben Thanh Market and the throbbing 24-hour hub of Pham Ngu Lao it is ideally situated for both daytime and after hours pursuits. The hotel itself is unlikely to disappoint too much either, although some of the interiors are slightly on the dated side. Rooms are spacious enough and for a few dollars extra you can bag yourself an Executive room, which allows access to a devoted lounge offering complementary drinks and snacks.
