The Pham Ngu Lao backpacker area of the city is riddled with accommodation options and with copycat hotels emerging almost daily it's not difficult to find yourself a bargain. Reliability counts for a lot, however, and this little gem has won itself a hard-earned reputation for service and guest satisfaction. Located on Bui Vien, the narrow byway that marks the heart of this budget tourist hub, the hotel offers easy access to all the action. However, while the bars, clubs and backpacker hangouts outside can veer from the rowdy to the downright ridiculous, the hotel offers a peaceful decompression chamber away from all the madness. Rooms aren't the biggest but are comfortably adequate for the price while trimmings such as the swish en suite bathroom and mini bar are nice touches. The staff are also a major draw here – their breezy helpfulness making a nice contrast to some of the hustlers you'll encounter just outside.
