Offbeat Activities in Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is not all skiing and hiking. You can do some activities that are little off the beaten track.

For activities in the water, try some parasailing on the North Shore or a balloon ride on the South Shore. Rent a kayak and boat from Lester Beach to Emerald Bay. Once you are in the Bay, you can do some s norkeling or SCUBA diving of the sunken barges that are under the water there. If you are a bit into the natural side of life, go to Secret Harbor for some nude sunbathing.

For some winter time fun, go to Snowfest! in March where you can dress up and participate in a parade or compete in the polar bear swim, or visit Mt. Rose for their Dummy Downhill event where stuffed dummies are thrown down the slippery slopes of the resort.

For some fun with the kids, go on a dogsled ride or a snowmobile tour. Kids might also like a trip to the KidZone Museum in Truckee or the Center for Environmental Sciences.
