The park's lake known as the Serpentine, popular for hiring boats runs into Kensington Gardens connecting the two parks. Kids adore the Princess Diana playground in the northwest corner, search for the Peter Pan statue in the setting for J.M. Barrie's classic book or run the trails favored by urban joggers.
The Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew requires a half day at minimum to explore the Victorian glass houses, the 250 years of plant history, climb above the treetops and enjoy tea break. You'll be sure to stay much longer than planned when you see the sheer beauty of the gardens.
