Merida Hotels

Historic Center? Santiago Park? Paseo de Montejo? Where do you find the best hotels in Merida? Visitors to the capital of Mexico's Yucatan state will likely all have their own list of the top ten hotels in Merida but I've put together my personal favorites to guide you. They range across the spectrum of prices and location but all offer great value and quality.

#1 goes to Luz en Yucatan has a location second-to-none near Santa Lucia Park and an easy three-block walk to Merida's main square Owners Tom and Donal have created a 15-room hotel that is relaxing, beautifully decorated, reasonably priced, and always booked - better make a reservation!

My #2 choice is Hotel Rosas & Xocolate - and I placed it second only because it might be out of many travelers' price range. Rosas is Merida's super-deluxe boutique hotel and a Mexican landmark of contemporary design, with a bar, restaurant, spa, and health club of the highest quality.

I selected #7 Casa Mexilio Guesthouse and #8 Casa Santiago because they exemplify the best properties that have been converted from colonial-era homes downtown. Each of these B&Bs reflects its owner's personal taste and offers hospitality in intimate settings.
