Description:

Delicious, inexpensive seafood fresh from Yucatan's Gulf of Mexico waters makes up the bill of fare at Marlin Azul – the Blue Marlin. It's a no-frills small restaurant near Merida's Main Square – only 4 tables and 8 counter stools on one side and about 10 booths in the dining room next door. Make sure you start your meal with a seafood cocktail: choose from shrimp, octopus, conch, and oyster or the curiously titled "Return to Life" (Vuelve a la Vida), a combination of all four. Tangy, well-prepared ceviches are another good appetizer choice. Breaded, fried fish filet is a main course specialty, available only after 11:00 am, that is accompanied by a small green salad, white rice, and lime wedges. You can choose from other fish and shrimp preparations, too, including butter, garlic, or cilantro sauces. After lunch at Marlin Azul, walk to Ki'Xocolatl for a dessert of organic chocolates made locally.
