Description:

Restaurant Los Almendros has introduced thousands of people to Yucatecan cuisine at its Mérida, Mexico City, and Cancun outposts. The original restaurant was founded in Ticul, Yucatán by Don Rubén González in 1962 where its signature dish, Poc-Chuc, was created. To prepare this fine dish, pork skirt steak is grilled and cooked with onions, tomatoes and peppers. You will find Los Almendros on Parque Mejorada, where dining is available in two large public rooms - Los Almendros and Gran Almendros. Here, Meridano families gather to celebrate important occasions. The restaurant describes its cuisine as a blend of Mayan, Spanish, Creole, and French sauces, which combine to create a new, unique Yucatecan cuisine. Besides Poc-Chuc, Almendros serves all those dishes the area is famous for: Panuchos, Salbutes, Papadzulez, Queso Relleno, Relleno Negro, Relleno Blanco, Cochinita Pibil, and Escabeche. Try the Tzic de Venado, a preparation of venison, Mayan-style..
