  • The Best of NileGuide
  • There are dozens of places around the Tahoe area to view nature and wildlife. On the water, on trails, on the rivers and in the forests. If you are quiet, you might see deer, water foul and maybe even a bear.

Bears are sometimes spotted around the Fanny Bridge in Tahoe City. During the late summer and fall, you might catch a glimpse of them in the Truckee River doing some fishing.

For some flower filled hiking trails, visit Fallen Leaf Lake, Desolation Wilderness, the Tahoe Rim Trail or the area around Winnemucca Lake or Caples Lake just south of Lake Tahoe.

To view Canada geese, ducks, coot, loons and other water birds, visit D.L. Bliss State Park, Sugar Pine Point State Park or Emerald Bay. If you are doing some kayaking around Lester Beach or D.L. Bliss, you may even see some eagles or hawks who nest in the pine trees above the lake.
