The number of Japanese restaurants has significantly grown during the last 10 years in Lima, under the economic boom of the country. You will find here from the most traditional to the youngest, trendiest one, passing by many fusion and new proposals in the middle, always keeping the Japanese flavors, style and quality.
For the most traditional Japanese food you have to visit Matsuei (a 30 year old restaurant that started the way to all the others that came afterwards), and Fuji, both of them focusing on offering original ingredients and authentic flavors. In fact, most of teh ingredients used in these restaurants are 100% imported from Japan.
Other excellent Japanese spots in Lima are Edo, Hanzo and Makoto, the three of them offering both Japanese and Fusion options; don't forget to try as much as you can from the wide selection of Maki and Sushi rolls, that combine Japanese and Peruvian ingredients, blended in the Japanese style.
For the young customers, Wasabi is the trendiest Japanese place in town: it's a combination of a Sushi Bar and and an arcade hall, and you will find here a welcoming, casual atmosphere.
