  • In a city boasting the most Michelin stars in the world, Tokyo is also a place where you can lunch out at affordable restaurants. Tourists love to joke about Tokyo's $10 coffees, but locals know there are many cheap places to eat. Local specialties, like heaping bowls of deliciously slurp-able ramen noodles, traditional "bento" lunch box sets, and tasty street-side nibbles are a great place to start. One of our favorite spots is Fukumori, one of the definite jewels of the Kan-nana Dori ramen drag. You can also slurp up the ramen at Men-Kurai, which is the ultimate local neighborhood ramen joint. Most times you go in there you'll see the same middle-aged guy working behind the small, 7-person counter. Akasaka Ramen is another one of Tokyo's famous ramen chains. The main shop is in - you guessed it - Akasaka, but they've opened up a location on Setagaya's notorious Kan-nana dori. Overall, you can find a number of cheap restaurants in Tokyo where you can have a great lunch or dinner. Cheap! Tasty! What more can you ask for!
