Day 1 - Portland

Spend your morning exploring Portland's infamous Saturday Market (which deceivingly takes place on both Saturdays and Sundays until 2pm). Explore the wide variety of artists in Portland, ranging from passionate jelly makers to intricate wood carvers. Walk through Downtown Portland until you reach ten01, where you can indulge in an exquisite but modestly priced 'power lunch'. Then, hop over to the Japanese Garden and the International Rose Test Garden, a little bit outside the city. This makes for a pleasant break from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Portland. For happy hour, overlook the entire city while indulging in cocktails and $2 appetizers at one of the best restaurants in Portland; the Portland City Grill. If you can manage to still muster up an appetite, Typhoon! is a great introduction to Portland's mouthwatering Thai cuisine. After dinner, cruise over to Hobo's for a hopping cocktail scene. When you're finally done with your first day in Portland, get a refreshing rest at the Hotel Vintage Plaza.

Old or young, Portland has a taste of the nightlife for all of us. Enjoy cheap and fun movies at the Bagdad Theater and Pub. If you enjoy a wilder kind of night, Holocene and the Doug Fir Lounge have the best shows and dance parties in Portland. And if your taste lies more on the refined side of the evening, don't miss Hobo's or Jazz de Opus.
