Reno is making a bit of a reputation for itself for excellent restaurants and chefs. A lot of these restaurants are located in the casino resorts, but quite a few are local restaurants using local ingredients...and most of them are still within a modest budget.
Within Reno, try the long-time favorite
Harrah's Steak House at the Harrah's Resort and Casino. Anyone who is anyone in Reno goes here for lunch or dinner, followed by
Charlie Palmer's Steakhouse and
Fin Fish at the Grand Sierra Resort. Another excellent casino restaurant is Sterling's at the
Silver Legacy or the top-notch La Strada at the
Eldorado, rated one of the best Italian restaurants in the U.S. Also try the
Romanza at the Peppermill with its moving Roman statues and fun decor.
For more local fare, make it a point to go to
Adele's in Carson City with its amazing menu or the very popular
Glen Eagles Restaurant. Visit the
Beaujolais Bistro or the
4th Street Bistro in Reno for organic French food or the locals' birthday dinner favorite:
LuLou's. For something off the beaten path, head up to Virginia City to the
Gold Hill Hotel to eat dinner at the Crown Point Restaurant. Or head back down to Washoe Valley and the Thunder Canyon Golf Course where you can dine on fresh fish at
Atabi or on steak and lobster at the Franktown Grille.

The fine dining in this restaurant is undone by any other place in Reno. The serving staff is professional, knowledgeable about food and wine and friendly at the same time. Main courses, salads and soups are delicious and the desserts deserved to be written about. Expect to pay at least $100 per person and if you drink their wine make sure you're ready for a major price markup with a $30 corkage fee...

This restaurant in West Reno is in an interesting location across from the Truckee River, several parks and downtown Reno. They purchase locally grown, organic food from local farmers and serve it up French bistro style. Their wine and food choices are expensive but spectacular. Definitely a place for a great date...

The best sushi in town. The sport bar atmosphere does little to detract from the great taste and freshness of the great sushi here. You can get maki and nigiri sushi as well as special rolls. The waitresses are fast with the drinks and the bar is the best place to sit, even though there are plenty of high tables scattered through the restaurant...
