UPDATE 12/22: The photo was taken in Moscow and showcases the onion domes of St. Basil’s Cathedral (aka The Cathedral of the Intercession) at the Southeast end of Red Square. Ivan the Terrible commissioned the cathedral after the capture of the Khanate of Kazan.

I believe it was taken at the north pole. Right after the elves staged a revolt and put giant Christmas ornaments on top of the reindeer stables.
