Top 10 Travel Twitterers

Twitterers, tweeters, twavelers, twits – whatever you call them, there are plenty of travel-related people and brands on the micro-blogging platform these days. It’s a great way to connect with other web-savvy travelers and travel professionals and to learn of-the-minute travel news, tips, recommendations and more. Distilling down a list of several hundred is a difficult task, and you may notice some familiar names; we’ve mentioned some of them in our top 5 series on outdoor/adventure,  mainstream, independent, hotel, and family travel blogs. Read on for ten folks we especially enjoy following on Twitter, in no particular order:

1. @JetBlue. With over 200k followers, JetBlue keeps its customers updated on terminal features, new regulations, service routes and more.
2. @SouthwestAir. Many companies aspire to SWA’s social media talents. Their twitter feed is no exception – from swimsuit models to rapping flight attendants, they’ll keep you entertained.
3. @Elliottng. Follow daily tweets about the online travel industry and more from the co-founder of UpTake.
4. @MatadorNetwork. The world’s largest independent travel magazine has hit Twitter by storm. Check out tweets from Ross, Julie and Tracy about everything under the travel sun.
5. @STATravelers. Personable and engaging tweets from Patrick of STA Travel.
6. @JenLeo. The lead blogger of the LA Times travel deals and web buzz columns, Jen tweets a great mix of deals, travel insight and local details, wherever she is traveling.
7. @WendyPerrin. The columnist behind Conde Nast Travelers’ Perrin Post, Wendy brings you travel deals, tips and other “secrets every smart traveler should know”
8. @WorldHum. The same great content from the editors of WorldHum, in bite-sized snippets and links.
9. @TravelingMamas. Tweets from the favorite family travel blog by @Cajun_Mama, @DesertMama, @KaraSW, and @MudslideMama.
10. @Soultravelers3. There’s a reason this nomadic family of three is a finalist in the Lonely Planet Blogger Awards in three categories – including micro-blogging.
