Just a few weeks ago, the search engine announced that it would be unveiling a new hotel price feature on Google Maps for select users and advertisers. With the new feature, hotel room rates, set to be in the form of sponsored links, will show up in search results for hotels, and users will have the option to enter the dates they plan to stay and receive real-time pricing. Travelers can then click through a price link that will take them to the advertiser‘s site to reserve a room.
Currently, when you search on Google Maps for local hotels, search results are displayed based on search term relevancy, distance, and other Google special sauce factors. The new feature will not change the hotel listings or rankings of current search results, but the feature is likely to affect the larger hotel bidding process if unveiled across all properties.
