Lady Gaga perpetually shocks the public with her outrageous antics: meat dresses complete with head pieces, a hatred of wearing pants and an affinity for only wearing bras. And a day after stunning viewers at the VMAs earlier this month, Lady Gaga breezed through security with handcuffs attached to her hip.
If you’re among us regular folk, you probably have to undergo many different levels of security. Sometimes your belongings are swabbed to see if you’re carrying any illegal or dangerous substances. Other times you might have to go through that controversial full body scanner and have your carry-ons triple searched. Even before security you’re often required to strip down to your basic layers of clothing and walk barefoot through the metal detector.
It’s also common to hear TSA officials announcing the types of illegal items to discard before you even get to security. But much to the chagrin of regular travelers, Lady Gaga breezed through security with a pair of handcuffs attached to her scantily clad outfit. However, according to TMZ, TSA officials claim that handcuffs aren’t a threat to aviation so there was no need to flag Ms. Gaga.
Lady Gaga fans and foes are pretty peeved that they have to undergo various levels of security scrutiny, but then Lady Gaga herself waltzes through without so much as a question about her newest accessory and lack of appropriate travel attire.
Now, what do you think the odds of a person like you or me are for flying through security with handcuffs as our latest accessory? Slim to none. Should Lady Gaga have been stopped and at least searched? And more importantly, how does TSA feel about the incident?
