  • Choosing a hotel near Victoria Park Market is not really necessary since you are not likely to visit the market more than once in your visit. However, if we use Victoria Park Market, and therefore Victoria Park, as a marker for all things in the western end of the city it is logical to group hotels in this manner. If youa re planning to spend a lot of time in the arty shops and cafes of Ponsonby, this would be a good area in which to base your self. For the purposes of this Top 10 list, let's think of the area from the CBD (Central Business District) out to Hobson Street, on to Victoria Park area and finally finishing at Ponsonby. Remember the further out from the CBD you are, the more relaxed and 'neighbourhoody' it gets, so if peace and quiet is what you are after but you still want to be near the city, this list will be useful to you. Also remember that nothing on this list will be vary far from some sort of activity whether it be a local cafe or the bars of Ponsonby, so don't feel like you are compromising by not staying directly in the CBD.
