Photo Friday: Souvlaki in Flisvos Park

Food, Local Flavor, Nightlife, Photo Friday — By Paige Moore on July 31, 2010 at 12:34 am

Flisvos Park , in the coastal suburb of Paleo Faliro, is the perfect place to sit while the sun and moon commence with the changing of the guard. The grounds of the Cine Flisvos open air cinema are set with wooden tables and canvas-covered chairs that steadily fill with each passing hour. Couples enjoy cold draft beer and plates piled high with freshly grilled souvlaki and bread, kids run back and forth from the adjacent playground, and sounds of life in general mix with accompanying soundtrack of the film playing just behind the protective fence. A giant grill is manned by two men, obscured by smoke, who turn  skewered pork meat by the hundreds until the small hours of the morning.
