The Colonial Inn Bed & Breakfast is an ideal place to spend the night if you like the relaxed ambience of early America. Not far from the bustle and glittering lights of Atlantic City, the Inn is located in the midst of the 70-plus colonial shops of the Historic Towne of Smithville & Village Greene. Here you’ll find cafés, restaurants and shops, plus a pretty lake with resident ducks and a carousel and train ride for the tots.
The Inn, created to continue the rich heritage of the Towne of Smithville, dates back to the 1600’s when Dutch and Portuguese sea captains — and later, pirates — explored the coast. Today, the Inn continues to offer sanctuary to weary guests.
I had the pleasure of chatting with Tracy Walsh, Manager of the Colonial Inn, and she had plenty of suggestions on where guests should go for a night out on the town.
Where do you send visitors when they want to have a drink in the neighborhood of your hotel?
I would say the Smithville Inn, which has a lounge with a piano player on Friday and Saturday nights. Another option in the village would be Fred & Ethel’s Lantern Light Tavern, where guests can enjoy a soft rock band on Friday and Saturday nights.
Where should they take a date?
A romantic place to take a date would be Tre Figlio on the White Horse Pike in Egg Harbor City. They’ve also got piano players, and great food and drinks.
Where can people go for a good local vibe?
For a good local vibe go somewhere in Atlantic City that’s not in the casinos. Angelo’s Fairmont Tavern has yummy food and nice wine — a nice, casual atmosphere.
For girls night?
Definitely the 70’s club at Resorts — it’s called Boogie Nights. It’s a lot of fun for the girls.
For guys night?
Where do you like to go out?
I love all of these places, but I like to go home and go to bed, too! It’s nice to stay local and enjoy the many shops and restaurants we have right here in the village. And this is a great place to spend time with your family.
