The international airport in Bali is Ngurah Rai, which is located at the fringe of Denpasar, the main city area in the island of Bali. Although the main infrastructure are all in place in Denpasar, it is however not a place that will be of much interest to tourists. Instead, most tourists will find that their hotel is located within walking distance to the beach, be it along the stretch of Kuta and Seminyak, Sanur, or Nusa Dua. Some of the more recently developed area are the Jimbaran area, which hosts various five-star resorts and up-market hotels, as well as the mountainous area of Ubud, which boasts quiet and relaxation like no other.
If you are planning to spend some time in Bali, it is best to get a personal driver to move around. The taxi services are very expensive, and the cost can add on, so it’s best to simply ask for a recommended personal driver who can be your guide as you tour around the island. If you are staying at a reputable hotel, you may also have the option of getting a shuttle service from the airport to and fro the hotel. The main tourism area of Kuta and Seminyak are within 30 minutes away from the airport, while Nusa Dua is a little bit further away at approximately 45 minutes. Jimbaran area is located much further away, and some of the establishments here can be as far as a good hour and a half from the airport, so be sure to plan your time wisely.
