Tommy Emmanuel in Concert in Bangkok

The upcoming Bangkok Acoustic Guitar Celebration 2010 has a pretty spectacular guest. Like a Ph.D. holder, Tommy Emmanuel has a few letters after his name: C.G.P. (Certified Guitar Player) What sounds like a mundane job license is a humorous bit of irony as Emmanuel is often cited as one of the best guitar players in the world. And if you are in Bangkok on October 31, you have an opportunity to see him perform.

Emmanuel grew up admiring guitar legend Chet Atkins who in turn watched with admiration as Emmanuel became one of the most critically acclaimed guitarists of our time. Emmanuel is a finger picker and uses an acoustic guitar in a fashion more similar to a piano. If you are into music at all, especially the guitar, this is not something to miss.

Also on the bill are the YouTube sensation Andy McKee and Korean guitar wunderkind Sungha Jung. Bangkok Acoustic Guitar Celebration 2010 featuring Tommy Emmanuel will be held at Centerpoint Playhouse on the 8th Floor at Central World in downtown Bangkok. Tickets range from 1000-3000 baht and can be purchased at thaiticketmajor.com
