Al Fresco Dining In Barcelona

It’s not hard to find outdoor dining in a city with such an incredible climate. Although terraces flourish more during the spring and summer months, Barcelona’s outdoor culinary scene remains strong year round. Whether you’re looking for a more spacious plaza in Gracia or a tiny patio tucked away behind a courtyard in the Gotico, there are infinite Al Fresco options in the city.

A few key ones to consider include:

1: El Salon – Not only do they have the most mouth watering seared tuna (amongst other delicious dishes) this is one of few outdoor patios that takes reservations. Ideal for romantic dates, dinners with friends or an intimate night out, El Salon’s patio is nestled behind the Correos (Post Office) right off Via Laietana in the Gothic Quarter. There are three or four small bar/restaurants that also have tables on the same patio, however you don’t feel like you’re being sandwiched in or fighting for space. The staff at El Salon are attentive and all about customer service.

2: Bliss- Located in Plaza Sant Juss, just a short walk from the Jaume I metro station (yellow line) in the Gothic Quarter, Bliss has simple tapas, fresh salads and an extensive drink menu. It’s a good place if you’re looking for an informal, outdoor meal or an aperitif.

3: Bo – Situated in the trendy Gracia neighborhood, this restaurant has front row seats to Rius Taulet, one of the liveliest plazas in the city. They also feature high quality, juicy burgers and a variety of tapas. Their indoor seating is small in comparison with their outdoor tables.

4: Tapas 24 – Part of the ’24′ group (Comerc 24, Catering 24, Bravo) Tapas 24 is renowned for its greasy, yet delicious and authentic Spanish tapas. Their few outdoor tables (about 3 or 4) fill up quickly and since you can’t make reservations it’s best to arrive early (8:30pm for dinner 1pm for lunch).

Restaurants Lining Passeig Del Born

5: Passeig Del Born – The Born neighborhood is full of chic and elegant places to eat, drink and spend a night on the town. In Particular, Passeig Del Born, one of the most popular walkways in the city, has a slew of high quality restaurants lining both sides of the street. You can menu browse and then take a seat at one of the many places situated one next to the other. There’s also a nice mix between more affordable and higher end restaurants.
