Watch Cult Classics Under the Stars
Events, Nightlife — By Jess Steinitz on July 13, 2010 at 4:50 pmBoulder Outdoor Cinema is one of the things that makes summer in Boulder so special. Every Saturday this summer between July 10th and August 21st, people will pack the parking lot behind the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art to watch their favorite films. This Saturday, July 17th, features The Princess Bride, followed by Top Gun, The Sound of Music, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Big Lebowski, and Up on the following Saturdays. Pre-movie independent shorts and live entertainment keep folks busy before the feature starts.
The venue opens at 7:30 p.m. for people to stake out a spot with blankets and chairs. (If you want a spot up near the front, bring a low-back chair or just a pillow and blanket.) Movies begin at twilight (typically between 8:30 and 9 p.m.), which leaves plenty of time to hang out, eat dinner, and enjoy the sunset over the Flatirons. You could also go grab some dinner or a pot of tea at the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse, which is right next door.
The $5 suggested donation is well worth it for an evening of fun, films, and fresh air.
